Pabling sends us a report of a local show

Pabling was kind enough to send us a report on a recent show he attend.
Thank you Pabling, I hope to hear from you and follow your bonsai adventures.

Dear Jerry,

The ongoing bonsai show is sponsored by Rizal Bonsai Club. I dont belong to this club but we usually support bonsai clubs near our area.

When I first got involved with bonsai, my wife sort of hated it, but now it seems she is in love with it. Whenever she has time she is always in the garden she is an expert in pruning and trimming. We always decide as a couple on which trees to keep and to dispose, the ramifications to be done on the trees, etc. She even joins me in our hunting trips for yamadories, the most recent of which was our trip in the eastern cost of Luzon where it took us four days to travel the distance of only about 400 kilometers because of the bad roads and swollen rivers .We have no regrets whatsoever, we were together in the adventure and we got what we bonsaist consider "priceless catch".

I brought four entries and was lucky to get three awards. The species are all local except the ficus microcarpa from Taiwan but we propagate it here. Most common is the bantigue which dominated the contest, and the other is the Kamuning Bilog, this is a specie which I think can survive the climate there .

You will also see in the pictures the suisekis and the lady looking or actually judging is Ms. Fely Gupit, the president of Philippine Suiseki Society. Shows like this are done every month since we have several local clubs.

Best regards
pabling dychitan
