The Best of British is a major event to be held at Easter 2009 at the National Collection
which is housed in the Birmingham Botanic Gardens.
We are proud to announce,
Dragon member's
Chris Thomas, Bob Hill,
John Harris and Jerry Wheeler
will have trees displayed at this major event.
On Friday 10th April 2009, Chris Thomas, Bob Hill and I spent the day helping set-up the show trees at the Best of British bonsai at the National
Botanical Gardens in Birmingham UK.
This was the best collection of british bonsai ever assembled in one show
The finest and best trees and the most respected bonsai artist and traders came together to make this a new high for UK bonsai.
We all feel privileged to be a part of this event.

A message from Steve Tolley.
"As the fool who was instrumental in getting the Best of British Bonsai exhibition up and running. I would like to thank all the voluntary helpers who selflessly gave up three days of their time and worked hard to make this event run smoothly. To all the traders who made the effort to attend the show and who contributed so much to its success. A big thank you also.
For all of you who contributed trees for the exhibition, give yourselves a big pat on the back. This was the best display of bonsai seen in the UK to date. The bar has now been reset, we have a new benchmark to aim at for future shows. Lets hope we can keep this momentum going.
Because of the politics and huge egos which pervade British bonsai, there was a lot of negativity leading up to the event. Lets hope we have all made the first steps in pulling British Bonsai together.
Share the passion! "
Here are a number of pictures I took during the weekend.
